The reason I am writing to you is to share part of what I like about being a volunteer. One aspect of this role is to be a bridge, to connect people like yourselves to the lives of people in a different culture. As you continue to support the ministry with which I will be working, I will continue to update you with what we are doing. It is my privilege to be able to connect my community of family and friends in the United States to the families and communities in southern Honduras.
I would also like to give you all an update on where I am in my preparations for Honduras. Currently, I am in the process of figuring out a temporary residency. The migration laws in Honduras require foreigners to leave the country every three months. However, since I will be there for two years this would become expensive and take time away from the work I will be doing. The process to obtain this special permission requires a lot of steps and paperwork. If you would like to keep me in your prayers, please pray for everything to go smoothly and for calm nerves as I go through this process.
I also ask for prayers for my fundraising. Before I am able to leave I need to have $17,000 raised and currently I have $3,875. Your continued prayers and donations are what will get me to Honduras and allow me to contribute to the work God is doing in the communities there. If you would like to donate you may do so here through the World Renew Donation Site and choose my name from the volunteer dropdown list. I would also appreciate prayers for God’s strength and patience as I prepare myself and sort out all the details of my trip.
Thank you all again for your continued support. Though it is stressful at times, I am still dazzled by the wonderful prospect of being part of the work God is doing in a country I have come to care so much about.
